What is ZEJULA prescribed to treat?2,3
ZEJULA is a treatment for advanced ovarian cancer.
It is a prescription medicine used in adults for the treatment of cancer of the ovary, the fallopian tubes (part of the female reproductive system that connects the ovaries to the uterus) or the peritoneum (the membrane lining of the abdomen). It is used in the treatment for cancer that has:
- Responded to the first treatment with platinum-based chemotherapy; or
- Come back (recurred) after the cancer has responded to previous treatment with standard platinum-based chemotherapy.
ZEJULA is maintenance therapy, not chemotherapy3
What is a maintenance treatment?2,3,5
Maintenance treatment is used as an ongoing treatment after cancer has responded to chemotherapy.
Maintenance treatment may slow the return or progression of cancer.
ZEJULA may give you more time without cancer recurring4
How ZEJULA works
ZEJULA may help support the repair of damaged DNA in cells to slow the return or progression of advanced ovarian cancer.2
ZEJULA is a type of treatment known as a PARP inhibitor. PARP, or poly (ADP-ribose) polymerase, is a protein that helps repair damaged DNA in cells. Treatment with a PARP inhibitor, like ZEJULA, may slow the return or progression of cancer.2
A large-scale clinical trial, the PRIMA study, found that ZEJULA reduced the risk of disease progression and death across different groups of patients who were being treated for advanced ovarian cancer. If you are receiving, or have recently received platinum-based chemotherapy for the treatment of advanced ovarian cancer, maintenance treatment with ZEJULA may give you more time without your cancer recurring.4
